Mary Kay Lip Satin Balm & Mask

As-salamu alaykum and hello everyone ♡. Happy Sunday! Owh, tomorrow is Monday. Now I feel how when Monday is coming since I have a day job now. Not fun! Well, put that a side and lets get on with a review for today. Today I will be reviewing this Lip Satin Collection from Mary Kay. As you know the Mary Kay Lip Balm have got into my 2013 Beauty favorites! You can read it here (link). Yes, I really love the lip balm and now I am going to review both product which actually recommended to use both. Both items comes with a box and both product have the normal squeezed tube bottle.

As mention in the Beauty 2013 favorites, my previous favorite lip balm is the Jack Black lip balm. Its super minty and hydrating. But when I discover this lip balm, I fell in love with it and kinda replace my love for the Jack Balck lip balm with this one. This lip balm kinda like a dupe for the Jack Black lip balm but it more nicer. I love how this lip balm does not feel "waxy" and it absorb in my lip nicely. It does not have an overpowing scent to it and its clear. I can use this lip balm with any of my coloured lip products. This lip balm contains Retinyl Palmitate a Vitamin A Derivative and Ceramide 2, and that acts as a conditioner that are included in products to help protect the skin from the effects of free radicals generated by the environment.

Mary Kay claims this lip balm to moisturizes your lips for at least six hours. I might say its does make your lips hydrated for long hours but depends on the weather. During cold weather my lips gets dry faster and I kinda need to re apply quite frequently. For me this is normal but this lip balm really does the job on hydrating your lips. After application, your lips will feel a little slippery and plump!

Now this is my first lip mask product. I never tried any lip mask before. This product is kinda a new thing to me. When I first try it I was a lil naive. Haha. I just spread this mask on my lips and leave it for a few minutes. The correct way to use it is actually, you can also use it like an exfoliator/scrub. This feels good when you have the "chapped lips" situation. What you go to do is use this before any lip product. This mask have miniature buffing beads that gently exfoliate the dead surface skin cells on your lips. The texture of this lip mask is thick like a paste. I need 2-3 squirt of this mask to fill in my whole lip. On your bare lips, spread this on your lips, then try to rub it in your lips in circular motion. You can feel its kinda scrub away bits of your chapped lips. Then leave it for 2 minutes. You can feel your lips harden and you can barely smile! Haha. Then rinse it off with warm water. I feel my lips a little bit plumper but still not closer to Angelina Jolie. hehe. Pat dry your lips and apply the lip balm. I usually do this routine 1-2 times a week when i have some extra time during my skincare routine. Sometime you can feel a little "sting" when using this mask, especially when you have a bit of small wound due to a very dry texture of your lips.

Above show the steps of using both products. On bare lips, apply the lip mask, scrub it in and leave it for 2-3 minutes. Rinse it off, pat dry and apply the Lip Satin balm. You can see that my lips leaves out a natural red tint may due to the scrubbing. Overall, I love this combination of product. I love to include the lip mask in my skin care routine for that extra boost of lip protection and pampering!

Have you tried any lip mask products?

  1. Hey Sab ^^
It's my first time to hear about lip mask too. I've tried lip scrub, but lip mask sounds so foreign.
